Awarded 2002 “Product of the Year” The
Intertex IX66 Internet Gate Singled Out For Its Technological Excellence and
Vision

(December 19, 2002) — Intertex announced today that Technology Marketing
Corporation (TMC™)’s INTERNET
TELEPHONY® magazine, named the Intertex IX66 Internet Gate as
a Product of the Year winner for 2002.
INTERNET TELEPHONY® magazine is the premier publication in the
rapidly growing IP telephony industry. The Intertex IX66 Internet Gate is a series of fully featured, powerful broadband firewalls, with optional built-in ADSL modem including a NAT-router, a packet filtering firewall with stateful inspection. As the only broadband router in the world, the IX66 includes SIP-support in form of a built-in SIP proxy and SIP registrar dynamically controlling the firewall. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is an IETF-standard for person-to-person IP communication over the Internet. SIP is used for IP telephony, presence, instant messaging, voice and video conferencing. All these functions are integrated in Microsoft® Messenger for Windows®. Previously, SIP has only been possible
to use universally over the Internet when both parties have been directly
connected without any firewall or NAT/router in between. With Intertex router
and firewall, the SIP functionality is already built-in and IP telephony and
other SIP communication work all the way to and from the users on the private
